They met while in college, they started out as a friend and soon realized that each they were getting closer – as the months passed and their love for each other grew, they finally shared their feeling for each other and realized this is who they wanted to be with. Nine years filled with memories they have built a life together, graduated college, purchased their first home, started careers, and have added two kitties to their family. Surrounded by family and friends, this past Saturday they said I Do at Belmont Country Club.
Their day was filled with laughter and happy tears. From one of the little ring bearers asking his mom if he could now go to Chick-Fil-a as he reached the alter knowing he had accomplished his mission and wanted his ‘treat’ for doing good to the sweet little flower girl who clapped for herself as she tossed the flower pedals. It was such a sweet sweet wedding. These little moments are so special, and then CJ saw Rachel coming towards him, escorted by her dad. Rachel’s eyes didn’t leave CJ as she approached him, filled with tears of happiness knowing they would soon be husband and wife.
So many parts of this wedding I simply loved. Starting with the fact that they were referred to me by one of my close photography friends, Emily who’s husband Brian is Rachel’s cousin. When you get a recommendation from another photographer to document such a significant day for a family member it really is an honor. From the moment we met, I knew they would be so fun to work with! Their wedding party was amazing, funny and so outgoing. Plus, who can beat a reception with not only a flash mob to open the dance floor but instead of cake, the yummiest ice cream sandwiches from her parent’s ice cream shop, Petersons Depot (if you are local to Northern Virginia, you must go!).
Rachel & CJ – Thank you so much for giving us the trust to document your day and making us feel like family!
Belmont Country Club – I love your bridal suite! The prettiest to photograph a bride getting ready!
Rachel shared a special first look with her dad – however before he got to see her, he had to read a letter from her. Such a sweet sweet moment.
Rachel – that dress… stunning! You looked beautiful.
She wanted some special photos with her grandma, and requested to sit on her lap! This is something she has always done and wanted to do so on her wedding day. Oh, grandparents just steal my heart, their sweetness, and the legacy of the family!
Special letter from Rachel to CJ – a few laughs and tears.
Seriously, look at these ladies! They got to choose their own dresses and stayed in the same color family, and they were beautiful. I love when brides to this, it really shows the personality of each bridesmaid, plus they wear a dress they chose and love.
Look at that light! Perfect deep orange sunset giving such a glow to the photos.
Four generations photo – CJ requested this picture as every couple has done this at their wedding!
