I can’t believe we are already in April, with only one wedding for this month, my focus has been engagement sessions with my wonderful couples. It’s been busy but I love these sessions, gives us a chance to get to hang out, get to know each other and makes me look forward even more to each of their weddings. Over the last ten days, I’ve done five engagement sessions all over the Metro Area. I wanted to share these sessions with you – and decided – it’s best to do an engagement session recap from the last two weeks! And I totally realized that even dogs at sessions have ‘outtakes’ so I had to include some of my faves in this post!
STONE BRIDE MANASSAS BATTLEFIELD
Kicking off a crazy week of engagement sessions was with Kait and Vinny – we met up at the Old Stone Bride at the Manassas Battlefield which was a great location for this session! Both big Capitals fans made sure to change into a second outfit supporting their team!
DC NAVY YARD
Meet Jimmy and Ashley – they decided on DC Winery and Navy Yard in DC – which I had not been to in such a long time and loved it for this fun and laid back session! As many are aware – heading into the city is not always easy during Spring time – add to this that it was the peak of Cherry Blossoms, Kite Festival and opening weekend for the Nationals – it was one busy area! We were still able to really enjoy the views and have fun! They spend 90% of their session simply laughing and having fun. Even taking advantage of the ‘wind’ and having their own ‘Titanic’ moment!
The next day – headed to Baltimore and the Inner Harbor for Vince and Amanda’s session. I’ve known Amanda for a few years through her being part of an amazing acapella group Girls Quartet (GQ) – and they were both in the wedding party of Katie & Mike’s wedding in August 2017
We met up at their favorite coffee shop – Zeke’s. Great coffee and such a cute shot! From there, we headed to pick up their rescue dog, Ernie (think…. Eyore in a dogs body – and my new BFF) and headed into the Inner Harbor for photos. Our main location was at the place where Vince took Amanda on their first date, overlooking the harbor! It was sooo windy – and you can see that even Ernie’s ears were flying Sharing from this session – Ernie’s own ‘outtake’ which was so funny! He is truly a 70-pound baby. Most dogs arrive at a park and start running around, this guy – happily finds the closest bench, lays down and chills!
RESTON TOWN CENTER
Monday evening – headed to Reston Town Center and met up with Bobby and Rachel – and their dog Blanco. Blanco made sure to ‘photobomb’ one photo – sticking his tongue out. 🙂 – It was a chilly evening so we kept the session a little shorter to avoid freezing! Enjoyed my time with them. I’ve done a few RTC sessions but this was the first time going to the mural in midtown – and loved it… will totally shoot there again!
US CAPITOL WASHINGTON DC
Rounding out all of these engagement sessions – Meghan and Jack! We had planned for an early morning session to avoid heavy traffic and a lot of people, but we woke up to gloomy weather and decided to meet up in the late afternoon which was great and so worth the traffic and 90 minutes to get into the city! The Capitol is one of my favorite locations to photograph it, but I prefer the back side (near Supreme Court) – it’s calmer and personally prettier, with fewer people. We decided to take a walk around the Capitol and end in the front for that view as well. As we headed back to the cars, they did a quick outfit change and we took some photos in the street nearby, such pretty neighborhood and row houses, just in time for sunset!
